41st Hispanic Education Conference
2024 | Modesto Junior College
Creative Roles:
- Nicholas Lazar – Graphic Arts & Marketing Specialist
- Jeanette Fontana – Director of Marketing & Public Relations
Project Summary:
The Hispanic Education Conference is an annual free event Modesto Junior College organizes and runs for high school students in greater Stanislaus County. The mission of the conference is to provide a space for young hispanic people to celebrate their culture(s) and expose them to higher education. In 2024 the conference celebrated its 41st year, and the planning committee was looking to maintain its long-standing reputation while appealing to the upcoming generation of students.
Constraints:
The conference theme was centered around the keynote speaker, Veronica Hernandez, General Manager of the Modesto Nuts baseball team. The visuals of the event and marketing needed to evoke a baseball feel and Hispanic heritage which posed a challenge to strike a balance between the two and still position the conference as an academic experience.
I had to serve on the committee as the representative of the Office of Marketing & Public Relations at Modesto Junior College, and had to offer strategic recommendations and updates on production timelines weekly to the committee chair.
Outcome:
The print and digital marketing campaign proved pivotal in securing 700+ student attendees and their families. I created materials for both event promotion and the day of the event, which included: posters, flyers, social media content, event powerpoints, directional signage, apparel design, takeaway items, and more. The result was a cohesive experience for students that made them feel excited about the prospect of higher education and an appreciation for the care that went into their experience from the college.
